Changjiang Li Autonomous Region Hainan Nuclear Power Project-Rubber Expansion Joint

The Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Station, located in Tangxing Village, Haiwei Town, Changjiang County, Hainan Province, can accommodate the construction of 4 large nuclear power units with a total investment of nearly RMB 19 billion. It is jointly funded and constructed by China National Nuclear Corporation and China Huaneng Group. The nuclear power project will build two nuclear power units, of which Unit 1 is scheduled to be connected to the grid for power generation at the end of 2014. The Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Plant started construction on April 25, 2010. This is the largest investment, advanced technology, and environmentally friendly energy construction project in Hainan’s history.
According to Sun Qin, chairman of China National Nuclear Corporation, the Changjiang nuclear power project adopts mature domestically produced second-generation improved nuclear power technology, which has reliable technical safety and a single unit capacity of 650,000 kilowatts, which is very suitable for the needs of the Hainan power grid. According to preliminary calculations, nuclear power plants operate for 7000 hours per year. Compared with coal power plants of the same capacity, it can save about 2.6 million tons of standard coal, 7.8 million tons of carbon dioxide, about 450 tons of soot, and about 1,600 tons of sulfur dioxide. Tons and nitrogen oxides are about 9,700 tons, which has significant environmental protection benefits.
On April 19, 2010, the National Development and Reform Commission formally issued an approval document, which means that the Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Project was officially approved by the state and the project began.
The relevant person in charge of the Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Company revealed that the National Nuclear Safety Administration has completed all the evaluations before the issuance of the Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Project’s construction license and issued the nuclear power project construction license on the same day. The Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Project is jointly funded and constructed by China National Nuclear Corporation (51%), China Huaneng Group Corporation (19%), and Huaneng International (30%). The first unit is scheduled to be put into commercial operation in 2015.
